Commissioned Peacock feather dress

20 Apr

This dress was commissioned by the above wearer.

First I sketched out a few ideas, I was given a reference photo that was more of a ballet costume, but I wanted it to look more polished and elegant. I searched online looking for the best way to buy bulk feathers, I ended up finding a reasonable price and bought 200 peacock feathers and 50 black ostrich plumes.

Altogether, the dress took 45 hours to make.

    Hi!
Loveeeee the dress – curious to know how you fixed the peacock feathers at the bottom part of the dress?

    Regards,

      Zara,

The feathers on the bottom part of the dress are ostrich drab feathers dyed black. All the feathers were sewn using a Husquivarna Sewing machine. I used a special technique to avoid breaking the needle on the quill and to keep the fluffy part of the feather free to allow movement when worn

      Thanks, Xiaolin
